SPIRES PROSPECT BOOK PROPOSAL GUIDELINES
Thank you for considering Spires Prospect Books for your manuscript. We are a Christian publisher accepting proposals only in the following categories:
- Christian fiction
- Sacred poetry
- Devotional literature
- Scholarly and limited trade monographs with a Christian focus
We do not consider submissions outside these categories. Please read the guidelines below carefully. Proposals that do not fit our publishing remit will not be considered.
Biographical Note
- Provide a brief (up to 50 words) biographical note, including relevant experience, expertise, and any previous publications.
- Include links to personal websites or social media relevant to your book and its promotion.
Book Title and Subtitle
- State your proposed title and subtitle.
- List 5 key words that best describe your book’s subject and approach.
- Ensure your title is unique and clearly indicates the book’s content and Christian focus.
Summary
- Provide a one-line description of your book, highlighting its unique Christian perspective.
Description
- Write a concise overview (max 250 words) of your book.
- Ensure it is clear to readers with only a basic knowledge of Christian literature.
- Describe what makes your book distinct and compelling for our audience.
Detailed Description
- Outline your work’s rationale, approach, main themes, and objectives.
- Explain how your book contributes to Christian thought, devotion, or creative expression.
Key Features
- List three key benefits or unique features of your book.
- Focus on what sets it apart within Christian literature.
Table of Contents
- Provide a detailed table of contents, including chapter sub-headings.
- For contributed volumes, include contributor names and affiliations.
Chapter-by-Chapter Descriptions
- Summarize each chapter’s content, purpose, and relevance.
- Ensure there is a logical progression throughout the book.
Word Count
- State the anticipated length of your manuscript (to the nearest 5,000 words, including notes and bibliography, if applicable).
Submission Date
- Provide a realistic date by which you expect to deliver the complete manuscript.
- Note: We do not consider incomplete book manuscripts.
Additional Information
- If your book includes figures, illustrations, or tables, specify the approximate number and type.
- Indicate if any material has been previously published, and if so, where and how much.
Comparable Titles
- List up to five comparable books or articles in the field.
- Explain how your book differs from and improves upon these works.
Sample Material
- Include a sample chapter.
Other Submissions
- Let us know if you have submitted, or intend to submit, this proposal elsewhere, and to which publishers.
Market and Readership
- Describe the primary and secondary markets for your book.
- Identify Christian communities, institutions, or courses that would be interested.
- Explain the global or denominational appeal, if relevant.
AI Exclusion Policy
- All submissions to Spires Prospect Books must be entirely original work, conceived and created solely by the author(s). We do not accept any manuscripts, in whole or in part, that have been generated, co-written, or significantly assisted by artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including but not limited to large language models (LLMs), generative AI, or AI-powered writing assistants. By submitting your work, you affirm that it is your own intellectual creation and has not been produced or enhanced by AI. Submissions found to violate this policy will be immediately rejected.
Please note:
- Proposals not meeting these guidelines will not be considered.
- Date your proposal and send it to editor@spiresprospect.com.
- Your proposal will be reviewed by our editorial team and, if appropriate, sent for external review. The review process may take up to three months. If your proposal is successful, it will be presented to our Publishing Board for final approval.
